JAKARTA, Indonesia - 25 September
2017: The
PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards, supported by the country's leading
property site Rumah.com, have announced the final shortlist competing for
honours in real estate following six months of nominations and judges'
deliberations.
Agung Sedayu Group takes the lead with 19 shortlists, with nods for Best Luxury Condo Development (Jakarta) for Langham Residence, and multiple nominations for the mixed-use project District 8, which is also shortlisted in the new category for Best Universal Design Development for being open to all kinds of visitors regardless of gender, size or age.
Several projects within the exciting District 8 project are competing in various architectural and interior design categories. District 8 Prosperity Tower and District 8 Treasury Tower are even facing each other in two win the Best Office Architectural Design trophy.
Agung Sedayu's nearest competition is boutique developer PT Supermal Karawaci, which earns six places in the shortlist for its mid-range and affordable condominium projects in the capital.
Meanwhile, PT. Kencana Graha Optima and sister company PT Cahaya Warna Prima return to the competition with four nods, vying for honours in the luxury condo, hotel, office, and green development.
Other nominees to watch out for include FARPOINT, PT Permata Birama Sakti, PT Ong and Ong, and PT Sindeli Propertindo Abadi. Each company collected four places in the shortlist. With strong contenders in the design, residential and commercial categories, the 2017 edition is gearing up to become the most suspenseful awards competition yet in its three-year history.
"This year's Indonesia Property Awards have attributed to the best concepts and best design properties," said chairman of the independent judging panel Hendra Hartono, CEO of PT Leads Property Services Indonesia. "Many of our judging panel members have a strong background in architecture or are interior design experts, and we're confident with our final shortlist."
Hartono said that with Indonesia's status as the fourth largest economy in Asia, the country's large population is an enormous captive market and has massive buying power to fuel the real estate sector.
"Despite certain challenges such as economic slowdown, overheated property prices and luxury tax implications, Indonesia's real estate sector continues to produce world-class projects as the Indonesia Property Awards inspire innovation among developers," he said.
The independent judging panel announced that 20 deserving companies and more than 30 current developments have made the official shortlist.
In addition to new entrants, a number of previous Winners or Highly Commended projects that endured further construction and have met this year's eligibility criteria - such as Sequis Tower, PIK Avenue, U Residence, Arzuria, Six Senses Resort Uluwati Bali and Regent Residences Jakarta - have returned to compete for more recognition at the Awards.
The shortlisted companies and projects will compete in 36 competition categories, with Winners and Highly Commended distinctions handed out at the black-tie gala dinner on Thursday, 12 October, at the prestigious Fairmont Jakarta ballroom.
Special recognitions will also be presented during the much-anticipated gala ceremony, including a new award for the best public facility, plus the 2017 Indonesia Real Estate Personality of the Year award as chosen by editors of PropertyGuru Property Report magazine - the sole accolade not given by the judging panel - which will be presented to Michael Widjaja, group CEO of Sinar Mas Land, for promoting ‘digital ecosystem' in real estate and leading the way in ‘smart digital city' development.
"The finalists in Indonesia certainly deserve the recognition as they showcase the best talent, innovation and design in the domestic real estate sector," said Terry Blackburn, founder and managing director of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards.
"Indonesia is one of PropertyGuru's most vital and important markets and the Indonesia Property Awards remains instrumental in encouraging better quality projects year after year with the mission to elevate industry standards for the benefit of consumers."
The third annual PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards 2017 is supported by title sponsor Kohler; co-sponsors Regus and Jotun Indonesia; official portal partner Rumah.com, Indonesia's leading property site; official hotel venue Fairmont Jakarta; media partners Liputan6 and PropertyGuru Property Report, Asia's leading luxury real estate, architecture and design publication; and the awards' official supervisor BDO, the world's fifth largest auditing and accountancy firm led by Indro Tjahjono, partner at BDO Indonesia.

The Awards is a milestone event in the real estate industry calendar and is attended by key decision makers as well as esteemed trade and consumer media. Annually, the Awards covers 17 key markets in the Asian continent via a series of domestic gala ceremonies, hosting up to 600 senior industry figures, to recognise excellence within each Asian market, culminating in a Grand Final at the end of the year.
In 2017, the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards celebrates its 12th anniversary, and features nine domestic gala ceremonies in eight countries: Cambodia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore. The Awards series has also been expanded this year to include categories for Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Mongolia, Laos, India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and South Korea.
Domestic winners from these 17 markets will then advance to the final round and compete for regional awards. The regional winners will be announced on the night of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final to be held in Singapore on 8 November 2017.
